20th Concession Bidding Round Announced in Thailand,
Information Session to be Held on June 19
Bangkok, Thailand – As recently announced by the Ministry of Energy, the 20th Concession Bidding Round is now on for onshore exploration and that in the Gulf of Thailand.
Companies can apply for the right to explore in any of the 65 blocks covering 235,606 square kilometers. Of these blocks, a majority (56) are onshore. The round lasts one year, starting from 23 May 2007, during which applicants can file their documents at any time. Then on the 15th of each month, starting in July 2007, the Department of Mineral Fuels (DMF) will collect applications for evaluation.
To provide prospective companies with a close-up look at the current bidding round and available blocks, an information session will be held on the morning of Tuesday, 19 June 2007, at the 9th Floor Auditorium, Shinawatra Tower III, Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Bangkok. The director-general and deputy director-general of DMF will be presenting particulars about the application process and the petroleum potential of these blocks. With registration beginning at 9.30 a.m., the session is free of charge. Today, 60 concession blocks are held in Thailand: 25 onshore, 32 in the Gulf, and three in the Andaman Sea. During the previous bidding round, 16 concessions covering 21 blocks were awarded.
